Ode To Mary
An inspiration of the Ave

by Trudi Rutherford

I greet you, Mary, my mother,
Radiant with grace, purity of face;
Innocence-based, heart that’s chaste.

Wherever you are, God is with you:
In lifting a child from a drowning sea,
In consoling a weeping mom on knees,
In curbing a teen from Satan’s snare,
Your Son is always there ... with you.

For every woman from the beginning of creation,
You, Mary, are loved, blessed above all.
We bow to you in gratitude and elation
In giving your ‘Fiat’ to Archangel Gabriel.

Blessed is the womb that bears our Savior;
The hands that hold Him, the smile that shines on Him;
The feet that race to His fall, the heart that loves us all.

Most saintly Mary, our ‘yes’ Lady,
Mother of God, mother of our Creator,
So complete is your humble accord
To be Mother of He who created you.

Teach us to thank, to plead, to adore;
Teach us to be one with you and the Lord:
In obedience, in gratitude, in humility to God.

Help us to seek the purity you are at birth.
We pray you be near as we leave this earth. Amen.
